Labor

The first of these pictures illustrates the the enterprise and ingenuity that rural black families exercised to feed themselves, from kitchen gardens to hog slaughtering and fishing. Another series shows men from the black farming community of Mileston building their community center. Finally, pictures showing the myriad ways black labor sustained the southern standard of living.
