Remembering Slain Comrades
Atlantic City, NJ: August 10, 1964. MFDP delegates challenge Mississippi Democrats at Democratic Convention, 1964. Rita Schwerner testifying before Democratic Party Credentials Committee as to why Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party delegates should be seated. Schwerner was the wife of Mickey Schwerner, one of three slain by Mississippi Klansmen earlier that summer. Their bodies were discovered only 18 days before the Convention.
